Swarm the Pace Partners

Thursday, December 2nd at 7:00PM

The Royal City Rumble: This week's edition will be something entirely new for our club. For the first time we are going to ride as a group with the Pace Partners. The Pace Partners are bots roaming Watopia at different speeds 24/7. First, at 7PM we'll join "D. Diesel" that rides at 1.5w/kg for warm-up. Then, every 15 minutes we'll end our ride with the current Pace Partner and join the next fastest bot. That means we're finishing our ride with 15 minutes (or more) with "A. Anquetil" that rides at 4.2w/kg. As always, all abilities can join just be prepared to go hard!

For full details on the Pace Partners you can check out: https://zwiftinsider.com/pace-partners/

JOIN THE SWARM: Let's make sure we're all wearing the black and yellow Basic 1 kit (ie bumble bee) so it's easy to identify our team.

PLAN OF ATTACK:

7:00PM: D. Diesel 1.5w/kg

7:15PM: C. Cadence 2.5w/kg

7:30PM: B. Brevet 3.2w/kg

7:45PM: A. Anquetil 4.2w/kg

Of course, you can join a group early or stay with a group longer depending on what kind of ride you're looking for. That said, we're encouraging everyone to give all four Pace Partners a shot for at least a little while.

To join the Pace Partners make sure you've selected the Watopia world. Then click on the black "Pace Partner" below "Join Another Zwifter".

Next, select the Pace Partner you want to join.

Finally, click "Ride with ... " to launch the game and join the group.

You can think of this ride like a virtual motor pacing session. Just like the pros do irl! The idea is to stick in with the group as long as you can. If you're feeling really good, see if you can escape the group solo ;) or maybe an attack coordinated over discord?

A few reminders so that things go smoothly:

  • Power Ups are fair game!

  • No TT Bikes. If you need to change bikes you can do so in the game by going into your garage and selecting a road bike. If you're riding a TT bike you will NOT have the draft effect of the group and have to keep up to the pace all on your own.
