The Royal City Rumble: Our signature club ride is now a Zwift Club Event. Make sure to accept your invite to the Royal City eSports club using the Companion App. Then go to our club and join the event.


The event will feature two laps of Richmond's "2015 UCI Worlds" course. At the start, we'll roll-out together as a group. Each lap we will race three segments en route. Between the segments we'll regroup and ride easy. As always, all abilities can join just be prepared to go hard!

Neutral Start: ~4.3km We begin the ride from the start pens like in Zwift races. Make sure you're pedaling at least ~10 seconds before the event begins. That way we will all leave the start pens together when the event begins.


The Neutral Start is VERY different than Zwift races because rather than going all out to get a good start position you need to adjust your effort to stay with the ride leader (Kyle; identified with the yellow arrow).

  • If you ride ahead of the ride leader you should start coasting or riding at <75W until the ride leader passes you.

  • If you're behind the ride leader pedal a bit harder to catch up.

  • Mistake: Don't try to catch up with the first rider on the road. That will pull other riders up ahead and create gaps. Pedal as needed to get into the "Ride Leader Group" and the group will pick up all riders in the event as we head towards the Start.


Stick with the ride leader and we'll ride easy to the beginning of the first segment. At that point it's time to drop the hammer. Unlike IRL bike racing we will actually ride easy for the neutral start. 


Segment #1 - Monument Ave Sprint:

Start = 180 turn at the end of Monument Ave.

Finish = Green Sprint Finish Banner.


Segment #2 - Broad St. Sprint:

Start = Right hand turn on N 1st St.

Finish = Green Sprint Finish Banner.


Segment #3 - Cobbled Climbs:

Start = Libby Hill KOM start.

Finish = 23rd St. Polka Dot KOM Finish Banner.


Don't worry about the Event Finish Banner this week (ie. no "race results" to enable "late-join").


A few reminders so that things go smoothly:

  • Power Ups are fair game! 

  • No TT Bikes. If you need to change bikes you can do so in the game by going into your garage and selecting a road bike. 

  • Get your warm-up/activation done before the meet-up.
